Step 1: Configure Actions in Chat GPT

First, we need to utilize Actions, which allow you to connect custom GPTs to an external app.

‍First we need to create a GPT

Before adding custom instructions in the Configure tab of your new GPT, simply talk with ChatGPT conversationally to describe what you’d like to build

• Head over to the Configure tab and start to configure your GPT agent. Give it a name, profile picture, and import under Instructions the rules you established by talking to ChatGPT in the step prior
• Then, select Add actions at the bottom of your screen. Near the top of the screen above the big Schema text box, select Import from URL.

Step 3: Import Zapier

• Paste this URL: https://actions.zapier.com/gpt/api/v1/dynamic/openapi.json?tools=meta
  • For this example, we are using Zapier to do our actions for us without needing to code. If you do know how to code, you can import an OpenAI schema in the text box.
• Click import

Step 4: Create your Actions

• Go to: https://actions.zapier.com/gpt/start
  • You need a Zapier account (you can try it for free if you don't have one).
• Once logged in, click Add a new action in the bottom-right
• Under Action, you are able to connect your GPTs to virtually anything (e.g., Gmail, Docs, Slack)
  • Again, we selected LinkedIn: Create Share Update to build our LinkedIn AI Agent. You can have the agent send SMS/emails, post on social media, access Google Drive and more
• Under Action Name, select a name for the specified action
• Select Enable action in the bottom-right

Step 5: Configure your Zaps

• Ensure your accounts are connected
  • For ours, we make sure our LinkedIn Account is connected - it is a straight-forward process
• Leave the rest of the options as "Have AI guess a value for this field", but make sure you click Show all options and give it a name.

Step 6: Add and edit Zapier Instructions

• Go back to your custom GPT, and paste Zapier’s rules under Instructions. Paste them below the custom rules you created in Step 1

Step 8: Update and Start Testing!

• Save your GPT!
• Test your GPT to ensure it configures properly
  • It might need a refresh to start because it needs to authenticate to your Zapier account
• Once authenticated, you've successfully connected actions.
